Apercite is a service that generates website screenshots and their associated thumbnails for you.

Free anonymous usage

To use apercite, the simplest solution is to use our anonymous API access. There are a few limitations to this access, but it will take less than 5 minutes to integrate.

https://aprc.it/api/<size>/<url>

You can use it on your website by using a simple HTML <img> tag:

<img src="https://aprc.it/api/<size>/<url>">

You must replace <size> and <url> parameters, see below for available sizes.

Here is an example.

The free and anonymouus API have some limitations.

  • The thumbnail requests priority is set to "low", which means your captures are always done after the captures of authenticated users.

  • Requests are rate-limited to 1 new thumbnail request per second (with some burst allowance), and 10 display request per second (with some burst allowance too). Depending on our current system load, we may allow more requests, but we wil enforce those limits when servers are busy.

  • Query parameters (everything after an eventual question mark in the URL) are heavily filtered, to avoid some service abuses.

Free authenticated usage

To use the service as an authenticated user, you must provide credentials with each requests. Client libraries for PHP, NodeJS and Python are provided in your user area. Please refer to the matching section in your account.

Premium authenticated usage

The paid service work the same way as the free authenticated usage, but with some advantages:

  • Always high priority in queues

  • No filter to query parameters

  • Alternate file formats and higher quality thumbnails

  • GeoDNS and sharded CDN for hyper high client speed

  • And more...
